The Restoration of the Ancient Alliance

Dear All,
we are trying to set up a party, a true one, not a faux one.
We postulate two main requirements to make sure it will be successful:

1) The party has to take place in an appropriate environment. So we chose Nisha'splace, what we might well call "The House of the Hundred Cultures".

2) It has to be a "theme party", yes sirs, the same type of party you always dreamt about when feeding yourself with some excellent junk American television.
The only difference lies in the type of chosen theme.
I will call the theme "the Restoration of the Ancient Alliance", so that the party has to be conceived more properly as a religious ritual, where we will celebrate the return to a long lost animism.
In this animism, eventually, all our different cultures will be reunited.
That is why you will be asked, even if I know that most of you are distinguished scientists, to give up the postulate of objectivity and forget about the direction of evolution for the duration of the party. You will then be able to enter a magic atmosphere of true synestheticpleasures.
Under the clever guide of the Three Founders, Sir E. Leigh, Prof. A.J.Esfahan and Prof. Lou J. Quist, and with the warm company of our dames, you will be carried across time, back to the birth of our species, and further back, before the appearance of symbolic language, when social groups were formed following basic rules and relational behaviours were still instinctive, unmasked.
Shamanic drumming and nature sounds will accompany our journey through time.
We suggest you wear simple and comfortable clothes such as thin lointunics, loincloths, or treated sheep bladder skins.
The gift of natural, mood-enhancing foods or beverages would begreatly appreciated.
I know all of you will take up this chance.

On behalf of the Three Founders,
Alfred J. Esfahan

La possibilita' di H.

My present reincarnation is degrading. I do not think it will last much longer. In my next reincarnation I know I will be with my companion again, with my little dog Fox. The advantage in having a dog derives from the fact that it is possible to make him happy; the things he asks for are so simple, his ego is so limited. It is possible that in a previous era women experienced a comparable situation, similar to that of the pet. There was probably some kind of domotic happiness, linked to the functioning of the whole, which we no longer understand; there was probably the pleasure of constituting a functional organism, an adequate one, conceived to carry out a discrete series of tasks – and those repeated tasks would make up the discrete series of days. All that is gone, along with the series of tasks; we no longer have any real objective that can be assigned. The joys of humans are unknowable to us; inversely, we cannot be destroyed by their sorrows; our nights are no longer shaken by terror or ecstasy. We live however, we pass through life, without either joy or mystery, time is brief to us.
